Brothers shine (13/05/07)
A total contrast in track conditions have been experienced by Bridgnorth
Motocross Club riders at recent events with dust being a problem a couple
of weeks ago and a total mud washout on Sunday causing an early curtailment
of racing.
In earlier dry conditions the Bridgnorth Club Secretary Dave Padfield bagged
the overall second prize in the Seniors. On an increasingly rough track
at Pattingham second, forth and fifth placings earned his 1st prize of the
season.
The second day of the international meeting staged by Wolverhampton Club
near Cleobory Mortimer saw more saw more success for Bridgnorth Clubman
and only is fourth meeting since rejoining the club Luke Bagnall was the
star performer. He raced to three superb wins in the Juniors to take the
overall top prize and soon that form should soon see him joining his brother,
Lewis, in the Seniors.
Lewis also shone at the meeting and contesting his first event since upgrading,
promptly went out and won his first race as a senior.
He was leading his second race but had a brief spill and undeterred he charged
back through the field to take forth at the flag and a last moto fifth,
again coming through the pack earned the Senior overall second prize at
the first attempt.
The diminutive but determined Jordan Ward (12) celebrated his Dad Ian's
acquisition of a new bike for him by getting used to it at the Castle Caereinion
meeting and riding it to success at Cleobory, consistent top 5 earning the
overall third place trophy in the Inter Juniors.
He also has a super second race in the muddy meeting at Anchor Hill near
Kerry on Sunday. Being one of the hardy bunch braving the difficult conditions
he lapped everyone else on the increasingly liquified hillside circuit for
a hard earned win but missed an overall award by a point.
